To say that sports car racing comes second nature to David Donohue would be an understatement. The son of the late Mark Donohue, David has both the innate skill and pragmatic approach to the sport that made his father one of the most successful and respected drivers in racing's history. His impressive resume now includes time spent in Touring Cars, Prototypes, NASCAR cars and Craftsman Trucks.
After graduating from Lehigh University, David began racing as an amateur in 1991. That year he was named Eastern Motor Racing Association's GT Driver Champion and Rookie of the year. Shortly thereafter, he started his pursuit of a professional racing career - a career now highlighted by historic victories, including multiple Manufacturer Championships and a GT2 class victory in the 1998 24 Hours of Le Mans. David is also credited with the first-ever podium finish for BMW of North America's M3 racing effort.
Since 2003, David has been an integral part of the Brumos Racing family, having driven a Daytona Prototype in every Grand-Am Rolex Series race since the inaugural event that year. 2008 saw impressive results, as he won three pole positions for the Brumos #58, ending the year in 4th place in championship points with five podiums and seven top five finishes. Building on that momentum, David secured his place in motorsports history as he kicked off 2009 with a thrilling victory in the season-opener Rolex 24 at Daytona after capturing pole position for Brumos in the legendary endurance event.
